"Wilksch diesel on target"
"Things are looking good for the next generation of diesel engines. It's generally accepted now that it is important that we get a new breed of powerplants which take a step away from the Avgas-guzzling motors which are currently so common, and it's good to know that a British company - Wilksch Airmotive - are at the forefront of such research.
Wilksch have already made several flights of a 2-stroke diesel in a Piper Cub (' very pleased with the handling and overall performance, was the test pilot's comments).
Interested parties who are following developments include Ivan Shaw of Europa: "The proposed 120hp three cylinder Wilksch aircraft diesel engine is the most exciting development we have heard about in a long time." Plans are afoot, we are told, to install a Wilksch engine into a Europa XS sometime during the coming year.
Now, that's something which we will all definitely want to hear more about."
