WAM-100 LSA Engine flies to Sun 'n Fun

Today, 10th April marked a historic day when the first diesel powered LSA prototype took to the skies from its home field at Dallas Executive Airport to fly to Sun 'n Fun in Florida.

This amazing aircraft has been put together in the last 30 days in a magnificent undertaking by the IndUS and WAM team, highlighting the straightforward installation provided by the WAM-100 LSA engine.

The aircraft commenced its initial flying program this weekend, and in the last 24 hours received the finishing touches to its unusual and distinctive 'warbird' color scheme. The IndUS team even managed to fit a display smoke system to wow the crowds at Sun 'n Fun.

Further flight testing will be performed over the next few weeks, hopefully leading to IndUS taking another first by creating the first LSA aircraft powered by an engine in accordance with ASTM F 2538, for Reciprocating Compression Ignition Engines for Light Sport Aircraft.

It was on 8th June 2005 when IndUS became the First U.S. Manufacturer of Special Light Sport Aircraft (SLSA). It was just a year ago when the Light Aircraft Manufacturers Association (LAMA) formally recognized IndUS Aviation for being the first LSA manufacturer to complete a mandatory compliance audit to ASTM standards at Sun N Fun Fly In, Thursday, April 19, 2007.

Kerry Ashcroft, long time test pilot and aircraft support engineer for the WAM team, will be joining the IndUS team in Florida to help support the beyond doubt high level of interest in the aircraft.

Back in England work continues in expanding the production and test facilities at the new WAM headquarters at Gloucester Airport, to meet the initial demands from IndUS for the Thorp diesel LSA aircraft.

The aircraft attracted much attention in Florida at Sun 'n Fun, having flown without problems from Dallas at less than 4 US gals per hour.
