Wilksch Airmotive ships first WAM-120 deliveries to mid 2002
Wilksch Airmotive plans to deliver the first WAM-120 engines in mid 2002 (formerly planned for end 2001).
The programme slippage is due mainly to supplier delays and consequential effects on WAM’s development and productionisation programme.
Fuel consumption, cold starting and engine weight are all on target and a durable 100HP rating has been achieved with work to finalise the 120HP rated nearly complete.
Key suppliers have been chosen for production components and WAM expect to deliver 50 engines by end 2002. Orders for the WAM-120 presently cover eight countries and seven airframe types of which the Europa is the most numerous.
