Wilksch Airmotive Success Continues
Wilksch Airmotive Limited has achieved continuing success with the flight test programme of its new advanced 2-stroke diesel aircraft engine. The engine has now completed several weeks of flight testing and a range of engine parameters have been recorded using a sophisticated data logger. Climb rate and performance at altitude have all been up to expectations and the engine has shown itself to be particularly well mannered, starting instantly in winter conditions with a very stable idle and fast warm up. With the demonstration flight test programme now complete, the concentration of activity has now returned to the test cell where work continues on power and durability testing. The Company has announced that the first production version will be a 120HP engine capable of powering VLAs like the Europa and of retrofitting to existing FAR 23 aircraft types like the Cessna 152. The engine is said to be "installation compatible" with the Lycoming O-235.
